The server our website was on crashed and our site was restored from a backup that was a week old. This vote was posted and lost due to the old backup being used. So if you voted, it was lost. Please vote again.

We have had many discussions about protecting the base and anti-sniper areas in our Conquest server. When we put up the BC2 servers it was felt that protecting or creating no shoot areas was not needed. Well some feel that protection is needed, so let us vote and put this subject to rest.

You can find our current rules here.... viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2320

You can find the Protected zones here.... viewtopic.php?f=46&t=2422

Keep in mind that protected zones mean no killing in or out for both teams.

This vote is open to Clan and Guest's.

All can vote one time and once you have submitted your vote you cannot change your vote.

Fair warning -
the more rules you have the less pubs will be here and the more work admins have to do.

Looking at your maps -->http://ebw-gaming.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=2422

I think your trying to cover too much ground.
for example Jay and I tested zone coverage in our twl server prior to making it active on our live servers
Our protection zone is not a straight line but its close - Oasis for example behind the mounted guns --> http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/5198/oasisoasis.png

the anti camper zones work but I believe are over kill
If a camper shoots out from protected area - you go in and kill him.
So what if you get respawned - the kill does not count against you.
And you can go in over and over and over to kill campers.

Sure there are plug ins to kick repeat offenders there are plug ins to kill / kick and ban campers
But your never gonna be 100% right and your never gonna make 100% happy
There will ALWAYS be someone who finds a loop hole in your rules.

Make a simple rule stick with it and learn to live with it.
Same with voting on rules -- 50 votes = 50 different ideas
I and others post asking opinions
but eventually you just have to go with your gut feeling and take the heat

Love your servers! you guys are a great group! Thanks for letting me play here and socialize with you all.
Its very refreshing to come to a server and just play

Well said Florn,

When the BC2 servers were started we struggled with what the rules should be. In our BF2 day's our Base camps were protected and our admins were busy. There was a high level of frustration due to monitoring server play very close. We have come a long way from the BF2 day's as we now have some Auto admin plugins available but this has a tendency to frustrate the pubbers.... We chose to keep our rules simple. No cheating, hacking, glitching, or disrespect.

From all my testing of the plugins to setup and protect areas of the maps, I find problems and issues such as soldiers may be outside the protected zone but the plugin thinks they are inside.

Makes more since to me for our admins to concentrate on balanced teams.

on the flipside of that Ghost, people who come into our servers when there is a camper or who are unable to capture flags leave. Nobody likes playing conquest, getting up to piss, coming back only to see that all the flags have been lost and their spawn is now being camped and there is no chance in hell of ever getting it back.

Your vote is in and the deadline has past, it is now time to tally and report. We will not protect the base areas or set up anti snipe areas in BC2 CONQUEST.

Thanks too all that gave this topic some thought and entered a vote.
